Hello Again!

Hi again!

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, just puttering around the house, watching movies (dvd) and went out to eat on monday night. The kids were around alot of the time (and weren't bickering the whole time!) so we got to enjoy them also!

Rissy and I got to go to my favorite little Antique Flea Market on Sunday and met Robin there and I got a few fun things so I thought I would share them with you! You will also see some of the goodies I have collected over the past 2 weeks and haven't shown you....

I am really trying to get my etsy site going and alot of these goodies will be coming to my etsy, either on their own or in a kit....So enjoy some eye candy on me!
The Emeraude (green and cream) box will be filled with glamour images and accessories to create with. The little basket purse will have a ribbon added to close it and also be filled with fun, probably children -inspired art goodies.
I got lots of lace and some millinery flowers and 2 men's shoe forms which I will decorate and put up also. I love all the feather plumes that I found in one bag....I wonder where they will end up? Oh yeah! and the pink face powder box is called Madame Du Barry powder! How Marie Antoinette!
Have a great night! karen

Show and tell again!

I forgot to mention to go to Analise's blog, Sugar * Sugar at:
leesiebella.typepad.com/
I went to a flea market after posting my china and silver and got some fun goodies that I will share with you this week, also I will have some new goodies for my etsy shop so stop by soon! karen....

Show and Tell Sundays! China and Silver

I love china and so does my mom so when we joined houses last year, we ended up with quite a collection!

The tea set and the formal set with tea cup, covered bowl, cream, sugar and serving tray all came from Wales. My Dad's parents moved here right before my dad was born and brought some beautiful china. The more formal set was my Grandmothers everyday china.

The oil and vinegar set is from my great Aunt Louise, she got it from a doctor she worked for in the 50's, the candlesticks are a garage sale find these sit out on our banquet most of the time...I like remembering Louise.

The hodge podge picture with the rose tray and little flower salt and peppers are just favorites of mine. I use the teapot as a vase, it reminds me of Marie Antoinette and the salt and peppers are only 2 of a set of 6.

The last hodge podge picture is of some of our coffee cups (sshhh! don't tell anyone but the front cup is actually holding my morning coffee!) These are cups we use everyday....we think we deserve it!

I could go on for days with pics for you but don't want to overwhelm you, I think I will show you more later when I do snippets of my house.

Have a wonderful day and come back and visit again!

My rubberstampin' bellydancin' friend

This post is about Robin, my good friend...She is the person who inspired me to be creative again... She moved next door to me a few years ago and found out that I was a newbie at rubber stamping and that was it! History! I had a Stampin' Up party, she signed up to be a demonstrator and now with many of her wonderful art classes and rubber stamp classes, I am hooked!!!

She has a Stamp Club, we are called the Sassy Stampers every month and we make the most awesome projects! I wish I had taken pictures of some of the projects over the years but they just aren't your average, run-of-the mill cardmaking stamp projects...if we make a card, it is very detailed, I really have trouble giving them away because everything she designs is just wonderful....

At the top of the post you will get to see a picture of my Robbie and a tiara that we made in stamp club...See! I told you she makes beautiful things...just paper, stamps and glitter! She also is teaching at Art Unraveled this summer and teaches classes at Piecemakers in Costa Mesa, Ca on a regular basis...

Go visit her website, called Robins Nest- On my sidebar and when you are looking at the header of her blog, that is an awesome cloth book/sewing notions holder that she made and also teaches a class on!

I'll see you tomorrow for Show and Tell Sundays! Have a great night! karen....

Bluebirds and Bonnets Swap

These are my panels to send for the bluebirds and bonnets swap. I really enjoyed the images given to us by the Vintage Workshop for this swap so I had alot of fun making these...very girlie, and I love birds also!
We have to make 4 panels front and back and then we will get back an assembled screen with 4 panels of artwork from others....I peeked at the flicker pics of others work and I cant wait to get mine back!
It is funny, I love all kinds of "styles" in decorating and life - Shabby Chic, Country, Cottage style, Vintage , Grunge, but lately my art has been very Shabby...more pastels and feminine accents, it is really fun to see the change. I still like my day of the dead stuff and sepia toned stuff but am loving the shabby look at the moment! How about you? Do you see changes in your art?
Hope you are having a great week, it's already Wednesday! karen....

A Mish Mash Week!

Here are pics of the journal I made for Diane my swap partner for the Journal swap. She loves birds and nature..... I forgot to take pictures before I mailed it out so she was nice enough to send these to me !
This week has been a mish mash for me! I have had too many things to do and have gotten nothing completely done! I did stop by a couple of thrift stores and got a couple of little goodies which I will share with you at another time (need batteries for the camera). I got the cutest little purse which I will fill with goodies and add to my etsy site and I also got a really cute license plate purse which I will also add on.
I did make my first sale on etsy YEAH me! It takes a while to get started but I am hoping to have it be a source of income in August when I don't have work. I sure love buying on etsy and love their idea of supporting artists and crafters so I am excited to be a part of it. As you guys already know, I love thrifting and since I can't keep all the goodies I find (darn it!), I can also share those on etsy.
Well, I wish all the Mommies and wannabe mommies out there a happy Mothers Day tomorrow! karen....

This Week's Finds

I was able to go to a local (monthly) antique fair on Sunday with my good friend Robin....I always have fun thrifting with her because she gets it when I buy some of my treasures! She is an artist also and sometimes we both want the same thing, but most of the time there is plenty to share.

Here are some pics of my finds!

I will write soon to tell you more about the Sassy Stampers stamp club and Robin...my favorite and only rubberstampinbellydancin friend!

Ta ta for now! karen....
