The Ups and Downs of life....

Boy life can be a doozy! We had one of the best vacations ever this summer. We went back to Pennsylvania and visited my hubby's family and just soaked in all the beauty....
But surrounding that vacation, our poor little dog Squeak injured her back playing with the cat (she is part cow) She charged the cat and the cat leaped into the air and landed on her! She lost the use of her back legs for a couple of weeks...scarey!
But the good news is she is doing great and it seems that she only had a couple of side effects, her tail doesn't quite work the same and she goes down the stairs differently...we are so happy....we were so worried!
Then, when Squeaky seemed good, I was so excited to go back to work with shorter hours (4 hrs.)  My mom is needing more help and I want to build the antique business.... But then my mom got sick....
She has been sick and in and out of the hospital for the last 6 weeks... I feel so bad for her. I am caring for her, she is 83 and has done some...let's say..."quirky" things lately...like go off of all her meds for 3 days!  Oh my! I am having a tough time...she can be VERY Sneaky!  Oh did I mention she is on medication for her heart, blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and blood thinners?
Worry, worry........
But... We started school and I am in a new position that I love this year. We have 6 little preschoolers and they are darling and rascally and I am so happy. Last week I came down with the cold/flu thingy, my doctor was very understanding that I was taking care of my mom and gave me meds and I am healing..cough! cough!  And luckily my mom hasn't gotten it...
So.... I guess what I am trying to say is...Life has it's ups and downs... I just need to be grateful of the Ups and plow thru the downs....  Whenever I am feeling defeated, I look at our vacation pictures, or at our cute little Squeak or in the faces of those cute little rascals I work with and realize...life is good....

You have gone through a lot lately. I know, I've watched you deal with some really tough stuff. But through it all, you keep on going, you keep on smiling and make the best of what you have to do! Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it!

Take care,
Sue

As a full time Caregiver of three Family Members with Special Needs and having to Retire early from my Corporate Lives to do it, I can totally relate to the stress and strains of juggling Life and Caregiving creates. Be sure to take enough "Me Time" even though it's easier said than done... because the Caregiver can often get lost in the minutia.

Hugs and God Bless You richly for taking Care of your Loved Ones... Dawn... The Bohemian
